Red Cliff (Chibu Village)
Cliff That Shines Deep Crimson When Hit by the Setting Sun
This rock surface roughly hollowed out by the raging waves of the Sea of Japan over about 1 km that is located on the west coast of Oki and Chiburijima is a large reddish-brown steep cliff that depicts colorful patterns of red, yellow, black and white with iron-containing basalt and tuff. The highest point here stands at 200 m. This has been listed as a natural monument of Japan. Shoryu Rock and Ga Rock are especially wonderful. The rock surface changes color with the time. It shines in deep crimson when hit by the setting sun.
