Yunotsu Hot Spring

Retro Hot Spring at the World Heritage Iwami Ginzan Silver Mine

There are sources with two different qualities at Yunotsu Hot Spring. This area is known as one of the leading hot spring health resorts in Japan. The area flourished as a harbor to send off silver from the World Heritage Iwami Ginzan Silver Mine. Therefore, this is the only hot spring district to be listed as a World Heritage Site in Japan. Furthermore, the streets lined with townhouses from the Edo period (1603 to 1868) to the early Showa period (1926 to 1989), hot spring ryokans (Japanese-style inns) and bathing facilities have a retro appearance. This area has been selected as a nationally important traditional architectures preservation district.
