島根県立古代出雲歴史博物館
Experience Ancient Izumo with Golden Bronze Swords and a Large Temple
The exhibits in this museum include 358 bronze swords (national treasures) from the Koujindani Ruins; 39 bronze vessels (national treasures) from the Kamo Iwakura Ruins, the most excavated from one site in Japan; and an uzu pillar (important cultural property) from the main hall of Izumo Taisha Grand Shrine believed to be from the mid-13th century. The reconstructed models of over 200 bronze swords shining in gold and the one-tenth model of the ancient main hall of Izumo Taisha Grand Shrine are extremely powerful. You can enjoy myths with an impressive video in the Myth Theater based on the Kojiki (Records of Ancient Matters) and Izumo-no-Kuni Fudoki (Description of the Climate and Culture of Izumo).
