This is Japan’s number one pre-stressed concrete rigid frame bridge. This bridge crosses over Nakaumi to connect Yatsuka Town in Matsue City, Shimane Prefecture to Watari Town in Sakaiminato City, Tottori Prefecture. The bridge has a total length of 1,446.2 m. The top reaches a height of approximately 45 m so that 5,000 ton class ships can pass underneath. This is the largest concrete girder bridge in Japan. The gradient on the side of Matsue City looks steep when seen from the side of the bridge. You can see the distant Mt. Daisen and Okinoshima in Nakaumi Lagoon from the center. This bridge has become a hot topic of conversation for its seemingly steep slope because it has been used in television commercials.
