Largest Hot Spring Area in San'in Facing the Sea of Japan
This is the largest hot spring area in San’in. It is located at the eastern end of the Yumigahama Peninsula. You can see the beautiful coastline with white sand and green pines facing the Sea of Japan and the highest peak in the Chugoku region called Mt. Daisen in this area. The beginnings of this area are said to lie with the discovery of a hot spring gushing out in the sea by a fisherman 100 years ago. The beach that overlooks the Sea of Japan bustles with sea bathers in summer. Kaike Hot Spring is known as the birthplace of the triathlon in Japan. A triathlon competition is held here every year. This is a salt spring that contains sodium, calcium and chloride.
