Mt. Hyono

Hub of Outdoor Activities Close to Kyoto, Osaka and Kobe

Mt. Hyono is located on the border between Tottori Prefecture and Hyogo Prefecture. This is the second highest peak in the Chugoku region after Mt. Daisen. You will find virgin forests, especially Japanese beech forests, in various places here. You can also see frost-covered trees that are rare in western Japan in winter. You can climb this mountain throughout the year. Moreover, the snow here is of good quality, so it is recognized as a great ski area. Parents and children can enjoy learning about nature in the Mt. Hyono Natural Museum – a natural history exhibition facility. This is a perfect recreation area because it is close to Kyoto, Osaka and Kobe with a campground and other facilities.
